Long Term Use Thermal Transfer Labels

Thermal Transfer Labels are supplied pre-printed or plain, ready for you to use. Thermal transfer labels (for ‘Direct Thermal’ labels look in our Product Section) provide the most durable and value for money thermal label. We supply rolls or fan-folded boxes of plain labels that you can then print on, using a thermal transfer printer, or we can pre-print the thermal transfer labels for you so that you can then use them directly, with or without any of your own in-house additional printing.

Thermal transfer printers use ribbons that are heated up by the printer head and the ink is transferred to the thermal label, sticking to the label like glue. This thermal process ensures the labels are long lasting and whatever is printed on it will not fade, unlike direct thermal printers which use thermo-sensitive paper that turns black when heat is applied from a printer.

It’s easy to get confused between direct thermal labels and thermal transfer labels. The vast majority of our clients want a thermal transfer label as it’s more durable. Another major advantage over direct thermal transfer labels is that there are various materials available that help protect from heat, sunlight or chemicals. The print quality when we print the thermal transfer labels for you is excellent, especially when printed up with barcodes that will need to be read years later. The print density also means that our thermal transfer labels are fade resistant too.

All the thermal transfer labels we supply are high quality to ensure a robust finish after printing. We have a full range of shapes and sizes. For the pre-printing we can print from one to nine colours, as well as full four colour process. Depending on what you will be using them for, we can supply the thermal transfer labels with permanent, removable or freezable adhesives.

One of the main uses for thermal transfer labels is in the warehousing and distribution industry, where labels need to be robust to stand up to abrasions and heavy handling. In laboratory situations the labels need to remain stuck even in low temperatures, whilst in other applications they need to resist heat.
