Thermal Transfer Labels

Thermal Transfer Labels should have a smooth face and require a ribbon. The printer head applies pressure
and creates heat spots through an inked ribbon, thus allowing an image to be transferred onto the label.

Ideal for long term applications where you need a more robust finish with good density and fade resistance.

Thermal Direct Labels

Direct Thermal Labels do not require a ribbon. The printer head is in direct contact with the labels, applying both
heat and some pressure. This causes chemicals coated on top of the paper to react and turn black, in a similar way
to thermal fax paper.

This is ideal for short term applications such as despatch labels, price weigh labels, etc. It is easy to use and it can be very cost-effective, especially for applications where cost will be one of the main factors but it can fade over time.
